The Rising Sun is an independent family-run pub and is owned by Hop Union Brewery. It also has skittle alley, a beer garden and a real community feel about it. This dog-friendly pub is a real hidden gem outside the city.


2. Hop Union Brewery Taproom, Brislington

Situated down a lane in a light industrial estate, you could be forgiven for missing Hop Union’s brewery taproom. The airy, rustic space has a rotating selection of cask ales and modern craft beers brewed on site. There are benches for drinking with friends, occasional music events, and a brewery tour if you fancy one. Dogs are more than welcome at Hop Union, and water bowls are available.


3. The Lazy Dog, Ashley Down

This is one of our favourite neighbourhood pubs, popular with local dog owners. With a large beer garden, a great range of craft and cask ales and a bar team who love dogs, it’s a great spot to visit for a relaxed afternoon out with your pooch. There’s also a jar of treats on the bar if your pup could do with a little snack.
